Tags: actionscript code design I am working on a project in Catalyst CS5 and am at a stage that I would like to inject a small AS3 code to see if I can get it working without going into Builder. Example - wireframes a clock in my work. Now I have the actionscript for a real clock and want to put it in, however I can't do that in cat. However I am not ready to take it to Builder yet. So if I could inject some complete AS3 code from Flash into a symbol, that would be AWESOME! |

Providing split Code/Design view for real-time editing and design like in dreamweaver. |

Tags: code coding program programming I think that you should be able to code in the code view instead of just view the MXML and Spark tags. If there already is a way to do that I haven't figured it out. So far Flash Catalyst looks like a "design version" of Flex Builder 3 or Flash Builder, only allowing visual components to be exported so Flex code can be integrated into the existing design. The basic parameters that can be set don't really offer a great deal of program control in the application. |

Tags: code dynamic source sharing unlock view If Flash Builder is installed on the system there should be an option to unlock code view in FC.
It can generally be assumed that if you have a licensed version of Flex Builder / Flash Builder installed to your system then you at least know enough about MXML / AS3 to edit the code by hand.
So I suggest setting Code View to Off by default and On only if you have FB installed and intentionally unlock it.
(Alternatly just making FC Eclipse Based so I can easily switch between views using the same code screen would work for me too! :)

Dont think anyone else has posted about this, but it would be nice if you code modify the code that Catalyst generates when viewing the Code Workspace. I understand you wouldnt want a designer to be messing with the code and breaking it and then getting all frustrated from a non-working project, but maybe you could add a disclaimer or something along those lines when modifying the code. Thanks. |
