I used to use an app called Xtivity (no coding). You could create an Action Sequence by having a component move along a freeform path that you draw on the canvas using the Bezier tools.  This allows you to make an object move in any direction; going around curves, loops, spirals, waves, etc.  Xtivity features a unique trigger system that works along the Bezier path you use with this action. You can setup Anchor Points along the path that will fire Anchor Triggers when the object that is moving along the path reaches a point on the path. The Anchor Triggers can be used to activate any action on any object in the project such as opacity, resize, rotate, movement speed, etc. By incorporating this powerful feature into Flash Catalyst, will allow complex motion design all within 1 state. Also, it allowed you to specify the orientation of a component as it travels along a path. Example:  have a trianglular point of a triangle always point in the direction of travel.
