Catalyst should be a bridge between apps like Illustrator and Photoshop to the Flash Platform but its not. It seems like a lovechild of Flash and Contribute. I get the "Flash authoring made simple" idea but I think any demanding creative is going to want things readily available in Flash Pro. The workflow that was envisioned is shortsighted probably because you don't want to have product overlap - I get that. I only want the full IDE in this regard: allowing designers to assign the correct components and identifying attributes like id and styleName. In theory, the FLEX driven backend would remain 100% in tact, untouched and allow for a teency bit of development by designers to mod a full fledged enterprise system. We have a specific workflow idea where designers could in effect "wire up" a design file in Catalyst with id's or other meta information. Then, we'd have our FLEX app find them on an init() call and assign the correct event listeners. Of course, Catalyst would need to allow for a full scale implementation of the FLEX IDE instead of the pitiful Button and Text Input components.
