I believe it is where we are heading. It seemed to take traction in the 90s with internet start ups. It has been a long standing trend in the arts community, and there are now more shared workspaces and even offices popping up where people have no real office - just varied spaces to perform different work functions. A less structured workspace seems to be where fresh thinking companies are heading, and I do believe it is driven to encourage more creative thinking and ultimately innovation in the workplace. I think it will be very difficult change for the older work force, but will probably be the standard in the future. Shared vision drives success and moves it forward more rapidly. Edison was not a one-man band. Nor was Henry Ford. They may have been the most recognized, but they certainly didn't accomplished what they did on their own.
