Tags: acrobat dates expiration pdf One of the biggest problems with the current implementation of the Internet is that information is not adequately dated for the purposes of search and understanding the relevance of information being viewed. For instance, an education page that discusses the Pythagorean theorem has no expiration date; the information is good foerver. However, a page that describes prices must have an effective date and an expiration date. Â PDFs should have effective date and expiration date fields in metadata. Moreover, when a user opens a PDF and the current system time is outside the effective date to expiration date range that the author has specified in Properties, the user should get an alert. Â Because many casual users are unfamiliar with Properties, and many PDFs are created through the print interface of a word-processing program, the interface for entering these two dates should be part of the Create/Save PDF process. Tags: expiration permissions This is an offshoot of the idea by bnerz: https://na5.brightidea.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=8FBBEA8F-D8E6-4E34-A7C1-7C74FB3B4EFA&idea_id=EF036912-0D95-4E2D-BB67-18D88011D131
For sensitive documents on Buzzword, it would be nice if we could set an expiration date for permissions. E.g. college project documents from one semester may not be needed in future semesters. Weekly / monthly / custom permissions would be excellent. The document would be shared with time limitations. |

I am considering self publishing some books. I would like to send free samples to many people for comments and feedback before publication. I would prefer to send them pfd files that expire in 30 days. Once expired I would prefer that they not be able to use tricks like resetting the system clock back to regain access. Why don't you offer a way to make pdf's expire based on any of several methods: 1) XX days from creation, 2) fixed date: xx/yy/zzzz, and 3) number of times opened.  To accompany this feature, it would be ideal if the pdf file could be made so that it could not be printed using any Acrobat program.  To accomplish this you would likely need a new version of Acrobat Reader and/or a service where pdf files logged into your Acrobat.com web site to determine whether they were still valid or had expired. Allowing authors to use Acrobat.com to control their expiration dates would be an interested added feature that you could sell.  More... |

Tags: auto-expire expiration expiry It would be great If I a document I am working on can auto-expire after some time, that way I don't have to worry about my content if I don't need it anymore. |
