Most are not experienced in IT so they struggle with some basics that us IT folks take for granted.  "Why do I have to send an email to let my colleague read the document"? is a common one.  So indeed, why not be able to give your colleagues read-only access to some or all of your files if you want their views? Well, because they might want to change the content and they do that in their own space. So why not use the Acrobat Reader approach and let them put sticky comments on it for you to edit, delete or accept as you see fit without creating multiple temporary documents in other file systems?  I can understand that I might have multiple clients files in my file space and I don't want one colleague or client to see stuff that's not for them, so that takes us into the ACL space, which might imply using a sledgehammer where one isn't needed. Perhaps a simpler, two-level authentica More... |

I would like it if people could access files that I put on acrobat.com without having to send them a link in an email. This is assuming that a file structure will be created in the future. People could then see all the files that I have created for them and download the ones they need. This could be done by creating a folder and granting access to certain email addresses. You could even take it a step further and create a login and password for each folder that you wanted to grant access to.  Example: I am a designer and I create 2 logos for 5 companies. I would create 5 "accessible folders", one for each company. Customer 1 would log on to the personal web address that I provide them such as "acrobat.com/angryape/customer1" . A login screen would pop up and after they login, they can see the 2 files that I uploaded for them to view. They can look at them on screen or download them. I would create folders, passwords and a web address for each customer.  Microsoft does something simila More... |

If the ponit of this is to share documents that might be confidential (which I believe it is), then when a file is initially uploaded, it should be as "restricted access"; not "open access". Â Also, it would be nice to be able to change the access status without having to open the document. |

As long as a document is on Buzzword, access is limited by whomsoever has received an invitation to the document.
The original author should be allowed to set a password for the document that would be applied when the document is exported. This would result in a password-protected pdf / doc file on export. |
