Buzzword is the best, most elegant online word processor on the Net. It's no wonder, therefore, that users are flocking to it requesting dozens of features be added to the application to make it more useful for them. I can't help wondering, however, what Buzzword would look like--or behave like--if most or all of the features were added. Another clunky beast like MS Word? I hope not. It seems to me that many of the requested features would be used for special purposes and not necessarily useful for the average user. The "average user?" The "average user" of a word processor should be able to use it to write a book or a scholarly paper. The feature set for such use would include TOC, styles, footnotes, bibliography, superscript, subscript, custom page numbering and a variety of fonts in addition to the features Buzzword now possesses. To keep Buzzword clean and elegant, yet accommodate special uses, perhaps Buzzword could be published in special editions that could be chosen by the user at sign-on. To wit, Buzzword-Basic, Buzzword-Math, Buzzword-Legal, Buzzword-Science, Buzzword-Engineering, Buzzword-Business (with merge mail), etc. Each special edition would contain the feature set of Buzzword Basic plus the special use features.
