Document structure and tagging provide a platform to address a number of requests
Providing a mechanism for document structure (e.g., to distinguish between body text and headings) and tagging (identifying special pieces of text, such as citations) will provide a platform to address many current requests and future needs. One of the fundamental evolutions in text processing over the last 30 years has been document structure, and for good reason. As applied to Buzzword, ...
WYSIWYG editing, as Buzzword delivers brilliantly, was a great evolution in text editing, and dramatically reduced the effort necessary to create the desired document. But by the late 1980s and early 1990s it became apparent that wasn't enough. To create longer documents, to repurpose content, or to collaborate on documents with other users, requires an intrinsic mechanism for uniform markup, rather than ad hoc markup. Â The Buzzword developers have a great opportunity to leapfrog the competition now and provide a simple mechanism to address document structure, styling, longer documents, collaboration, and meaningful semantic searches.
